The road descends the torturous meandering of the Sani pass. It traverse through the mountain plateau lanugo the Drakensberg mountains and into the South African province of Kwa-Zulu Natal. The spine-tingling pioneering of this route was previously travelled by Mokhotlong Motor Transport and currently is stuff used by venture loving motorists. The South African verge post is 8.km from the top of the pass and Sani Lodge is a remoter 16k on the right. The town of Underberg is a remoter 19km along. The Sani Top used to be the opening to Lesotho’s Roof of Africa route that connects the vapor taking scenery of the Drakensberg with the attractions of Northern Lesotho, as well as South Africa’s Golden Gate National Park via Caledonspoort or the Monontša Pass. The Sani Top was recently publicized on a TV programme tabbed “Top Gear” showcasing and testing the endurance of the new Jaguar, Porsche and Mercedes Benz cars negotiating the winding and twisting route.
